Incentive travel is one of our specialities. So when our client wanted to reward 50 of their top performers from across the UK with a fully hosted trip to a sunny, European beach destination, they knew they were in good hands. We created an unforgettable experience that would help their hard-working employees relax, have fun and switch off from the fast pace of business life.
The idea was a resort-style, sunny venue by the sea for the two-night trip. Ibiza was the client’s top pick as a destination. Our experts also put forward Malta and Portugal’s Algarve as alternative options to offer maximum choice within the allocated budget. Ibiza was the chosen location, and we were ready to deliver the wow-factor within budget.
The trip was set to take place in May. This is not only a cost-effective time to visit, being on the cusp of high season, it’s also a vibrant time when you can feel the island coming to life.
The challenge of this was site visits had to be completed during winter, when many of Ibiza’s top hotels, restaurants, bars and clubs are closed or undergoing refurbishments. Visiting boarded up locations minus the sunshine required a certain level of imagination from our clients.
Thanks to our experienced events team members’ extensive knowledge of the destination, they were able to bring the spaces to life when presenting them. Plus, as a repeat client, there was an element of trust – they knew they could count on us to do a great job.
Day 1: Arrival. Afternoon orientation tour around Ibiza Town, followed by an informal dinner in the evening in the fortified old quarter of the town, Dalt Vila, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 2: Catamaran trip exploring different parts of the island. In the evening, a formal dinner for employee recognition and awards ceremony – this was in the atmospheric grounds of a former fruit orchard near Santa Gertrudis in the heart of the island. Option to enjoy the remainder of the night in San Antonio.
Day 3: Lunch by the sea at San Antonio’s iconic Café Mambo. Travel home.
To maximise the experience, our client requested minimal travel for attendees during the trip. So there was a lot riding on the main venue being absolutely perfect – and it was. We selected a beautiful hotel on the outskirts of San Antonio featuring stunning rooftop bar that’s perfect for enjoying a drink while watching the white isle’s iconic sunset.
There were also pool parties in the afternoons featuring live singers, saxophonists and DJ sets. What’s more, the venue was walking distance from Ibiza’s famous sunset strip for those wanting to continue the party.
The hotel was also close to the marina, making for easy access to the catamaran trip taking place on the second day. This was a glamourous day of cruising on the Mediterranean, mooring up for swim stops, complete with a decadent BBQ and open bar.
