The Rail Rate Programme

Our clients in the rail sector run on tight schedules, shifting locations and unpredictable disruption, and accommodation costs can quickly add up when teams need to be in the right place at the right time. To help keep costs down, Inntel’s Rail Rate Programme gives rail clients access to exclusive, pre-negotiated hotel rates, available exclusively to organisations in the rail sector. Thanks to the volume of rail clients we support, our Supplier Partnership team has been able to secure over 1000 hotel rates across the UK.

How the programme works

If you are a new client operating within the rail sector, you will automatically be enrolled onto our Rail Rate Programme. These negotiated rates are made available across our wide network of accommodation suppliers which cover many of the main hotel brands as well as lots of independent.

There is nothing extra for your team to manage: the rates are built into the booking process, so travellers and travel bookers can access preferential pricing as part of their normal accommodation booking, without needing to search for deals or negotiate independently.

Because the rates are negotiated at a programme level, they reflect the combined buying power of our rail client base, giving individual organisations access to pricing they may not be able to secure alone.

Cost-saving opportunities

The core benefit of the Rail Rate Programme is straightforward: the rates are negotiated either as fixed rates or a discount of a hotels best available rate, in some cases both. That means every booking made through the programme delivers a saving compared to standard market pricing, without any change to the quality or standard of accommodation.

Rail clients operate across a wide range of sectors, including infrastructure, signalling, train operators, rail technology, passenger disruption, freight and maintenance. These organisations typically manage high volumes of accommodation bookings across multiple sites, shift patterns and project locations. The programme allows these savings to accumulate significantly over the course of the year, freeing up budget without adding any complexity to how their travel is managed.

After more than 10 years of working together, I can honestly say that Inntel are much more than a booking partner. Inntel are a trusted extension of our team and a huge support in delivering successful projects.

What I really value about working with Inntel is that they don’t simply book accommodation. Inntel take the time to understand what our guests actually need and make sure every detail is considered. From ensuring meal timings work around shift patterns, to making sure guests have the right food to keep them fuelled throughout their shifts, they understand how important good nutrition and quality sleep are when people are working demanding schedules.

The Inntel team genuinely feel like an extension of my own team. They take ownership, think ahead and always look for ways to make things work better.

Built around the way rail teams travel

We recognise that there are large amounts of travellers required in the same location over multiple nights and across multiple shift patterns. To ensure you get the best value based on the size and length of the project, we have a specialist Groups and Projects team that work on this on your behalf. The team’s job is to ensure your travellers are well fed and rested, whilst also ensuring their safety and wellbeing both on and off shift. Below are some of the requirements Inntel help scope out:

  • Shift patterns
  • Catering
  • Car parking
  • Extra-curricular activities
