Introducing Our Sustainable Venue Programme

As a B Corp certified organisation, Inntel is commitment to supporting more sustainable meetings and events. We recognise that venues play an important role in helping clients reduce the environmental and social impacts of their meetings and events. Our Sustainable Venue Programme (SVP) highlights venues that are actively working towards improving their sustainability practices.

The programme helps clients identify venues that share their commitment to more sustainable events, while encouraging venues to continue progressing their ESG journey through practical actions across environmental, operational and social areas.

SVP inclusion criteria

Participating venues demonstrate commitment across six key areas:

  1. Accreditation and continuous improvement: Venues hold, or are actively working towards, a recognised sustainability certification or accreditation and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement year on year.
  2. Carbon reduction plan and transparency: The venue has a carbon reduction plan in place with measurable targets (Scope 1 & 2, and Scope 3 where available) and tracks progress against them.
  3. Energy and resource efficiency: Venue sources some energy from renewable sources and has measurable energy efficiency initiatives (e.g. LED lighting, smart controls, efficient HVAC).
  4. Event operations: The venue provides digital first or reusable event solutions and offers optional ‘sustainable  event packages’ such as zero-waste catering or fully digital registration.
  5. Catering practices: The venue offers local seasonal menus where possible, with at least 50% of menu options plant-based or vegetarian.
  6. Wellbeing and social impact: The venue supports staff wellbeing (e.g. health, wellbeing, or financial support programmes like Vivup) and engages with the local community (e.g. apprenticeships or charity partnerships).

Governance and monitoring

The Sustainable Venue Programme is built on trust, collaboration and continuous improvement. While SVP is not a formal accreditation, participating venues commit to implementing sustainability measures and sharing relevant information where requested.

To maintain the integrity of the programme, Inntel may:

  • Request updates or examples during reviews
  • Conduct site visits
  • Carry out occasional spot checks

Consistent non-compliance with agreed commitments may result in removal from the programme.
