Sweet Success for Inntel’s Marathon Runners

If you happened to be travelling around London on 21st April, there’s no doubt you would’ve noticed the unique spectacle that is the London Marathon. The city was buzzing with the atmosphere that only 50,000  people pounding the city’s pavements can bring. Hats off to every single runner who took part in the event! That includes our very own CEO, Douglas O’Neill, and Marketing Manager, Dan Mitchell, who both completed the marathon to raise vital funds for MS-UK.

Douglas is no stranger to running for charity while sporting a flavourful outfit. In fact, at last year’s London Marathon he became a Guinness World Record holder for the fastest marathon dressed as a sweet food – in a time of 3 hours 38 minutes – breaking his previous record by 10 minutes.

Not to be outpaced, this time around Douglas managed to keep his cool and hold on to his accolade. The cherry on top was that he beat his record-breaking title once again, this time completing the 26.2-mile course in an impressive 3 hours 28 minutes and 16 seconds.

As this was Dan’s first marathon, he opted for more traditional running attire. Having just joined Inntel last October – and signed up for the marathon that same month – Dan absolutely hit the ground running! Thanks to his winning attitude and determination to meet a challenge head on, he put in the leg work and quickly got up to speed, in true Inntel style. Successfully completing the marathon in 4 hours 56 minutes and 11 seconds – after a solid 2 hours 13 minutes and 5 seconds half marathon a couple of weeks before – Dan’s quads started to cramp meaning a battle to finish sub five hours. Amazing work and fantastic determination.

Alexander Mutiso Munyao (Ken) was first to cross the line as the overall men’s winner in a time of 2 hours 4 minutes and 1 second. And Peres Jepchirchir achieved a women’s only world-record time of 2 hours 16 minutes and 16 seconds. But, it wasn’t their first marathon, and they weren’t dressed as an ice-cream!

Huge congratulations to everyone who took part in the 2024 London Marathon, especially Inntel’s Douglas and Dan, who ran in aid of MS-UK, a vital charity dedicated to supporting people affected by multiple sclerosis. MS-UK runners raised almost £300,000 in total! Donations can be made via:
