Celebrating International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It’s a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

Marked every year on 8th March, IWD is one of the most important days to educate and raise awareness about women’s equality. Everyone everywhere can play a part in helping to forge gender parity.

As Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist once said, “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organisation but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.”

As a business, we take our responsibilities to equal opportunities seriously. Women are heard, supported and encouraged. Women make up 50% of our Senior Leadership Team. What’s more, 55% of our managers are women.

Below, we hear from two of our Directors about the importance of raising awareness for women’s equality, inclusion, and what IWD means to them.

Anna Snoep, Director of Operations at Inntel, says:

“I am proud to work for an organisation where everyone’s voice and opinion is heard and valued regardless of their gender identity (or anything else for that matter!) and I wholeheartedly support the International Women’s Day theme this year so this can be the case in organisations across the globe. The dream is that we will not need an IWD one day in the future however, in the meantime, we will continue to inspire others to value the inclusion of women and continue to spread the word so girls and women in our own local community and around the world understand their value and know that they are worthy of inclusion.”

Sian Sayward, Inntel’s Director of People, Partnerships and Strategic Projects, adds:

“Firstly, my biggest hope is that one day we will not need an International Women’s Day at all, but we are a long way from there right now. For me, International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on the many incredible women that have helped shaped my life and to celebrate their strength, resilience and power, and of course it also serves as a reminder of the vital role women play in the shaping of our world. I am inspired and humbled by those advocating for gender equality, celebrating the achievements of women across the globe, and working together towards a future where every woman is empowered, respected and included, and I am honoured to add my voice to the cause. Together we really can make a difference.”

Inspire Inclusion

This year’s IWD theme is: Inspire Inclusion. When we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there’s a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment.

Here’s what some more of our people have to say…
