Will the travel industry be better by digital design? Those born in the digital age have shorter attention spans than their predecessors and become more frustrated by technical glitches. They expect things to run smoothly from start to finish. And they see no reason why something that works well in one environment, such as tracking their parcel delivery, should not work equally well in another, such as locating their lost luggage.

According to a report by the International Telecommunication Union, by the end of 2011 there were around six billion mobile phone subscriptions in place for a world population of just under seven billion. Goodness knows how many more have been sold in the last five years but it is safe to say that, in 2016, the majority of people own a mobile phone.
