Outline your trip:

A weekend in Blackpool staying at the Hilton hotel on Blackpool Promenade with visits to local attractions including Blackpool Tower, the Sea Life Centre and Madame Tussaud’s. As well as this we had a trip on a Heritage Tram travelling from Blackpool up to Fleetwood and back again followed by some free time to explore this traditional seaside town.

So, what did you think of Blackpool as a destination?

Blackpool has got a lot of history and also some excellent new and upcoming ventures. For years Blackpool has attracted millions of tourists and with so much to do you can see why. There is an abundance of hotels and plenty of conference venues some with unique features.

What initially caught your eye as you entered the venue?

The Hilton hotel itself was well presented. As you arrive there is ample parking and easy access into the hotel from both the car park and the promenade. One inside you are greeted with a spacious lobby area which links directly to all conference rooms. The bedrooms are modern and offer all expected amenities and most if not all have a ‘sea view’. The staff were very helpful and always and always happy to be of service where required.

What was the food and drink offering at the venue like?

Both food and drink at the Hilton were fantastic. On the first night we were greeted with a lovely buffet offering an array of starters, mains and desserts, all beautifully presented. There was also a wide range of choice at breakfast and something to suit all needs with the main meal on the Saturday night a display of a la carte cooked and presented very well. The hotel also offers room service and has snacks and drinks available at reception so there’s always something for guests by the way of refreshments.

What was the accommodation like during your stay?

The décor in the accommodation was modern and light. My room was sea facing from the side of the hotel and was quite spacious with all the amenities you would expect including bathroom products, tea and coffee making facilities and a choice of TV and Radio channels. The bathroom had a large walk-in shower and the beds were extremely comfortable ensuring a good night’s sleep.

What were your hosts like during your stay?

The hosts were absolutely fantastic and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed and required. we were greeted pleasantly and instructions were shared clear and concise. Throughout the weekend there was somebody available to answer your questions, get you anything you needed and offer advice or information.

Would you recommend the venue to event planners and why?

I would recommend the hotel to event planners as there is ample space to accommodate events of varying sizes including access in one of the rooms to get large equipment or even a vehicle in. As well as this the hotel offers plenty of bedrooms if these are required as part of the event as well as on-site parking. If the hotel isn’t enough on its own they also have good relations with local suppliers and can create further help and ideas to accommodate requirements.

What ideal meeting and event business would you place in this venue?

The hotel could accommodate an array of different events from small boardroom meetings to larger scale exhibitions. This is because they have multiple rooms capable of holding these as well as a breakout/ corridor area ideal for stands and advertising, rooms with built in equipment and lighting and high ceilings.

What was the highlight of your trip?

The weekend as a whole was fantastic but the highlight had to be the trip up to the top of Blackpool Tower. This brought back many childhood memories and was something I hadn’t done for about 25 years!
