How Inntel helped Transpennine Express Trains with emergency accommodation and onward travel requirements during widespread floods.

Understanding requirements

Severe flooding in Cumbria meant that Transpennine
Express (TPE) trains were heavily disrupted, causing inconvenience
to their passengers.
At 11pm, the Head of Procurement at TPE contacted her dedicated
Inntel out of hours telephone team. The pre-set disaster recovery plan was invoked immediately to ensure displaced passenger’s well being, and safety, given the time of night.

Solving the problem

The size and scale of the situation was evaluated with the client representative and the Inntel Team Leader activated three additional Inntel Consultants to the task. Eighty existing hotel bookings needed to be cancelled and rebooked at suitable alternatives. Inntel quickly processed the requirements and new accommodation was sourced and booked within 2 hours, consolidating the volumes into 10 hotels in 4 locations.
