Understanding requirements

Alstom UK Grid business was awarded a major contract by Crossrail to install protection and control systems for four key central section traction power substations. The project was one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects. The project to build a new east-west London railway with over 40km of new railways tunnels will run through central London.

Alstom are a long-standing Inntel client so passed their accommodation needs to Inntel with plenty of notice in order that Inntel would be able to source and negotiate the very best hotel programme for their specific requirements.

The brief for Inntel

For this project Alstom required Inntel to manage 1100 hotel rooms over the Christmas period in London. They had a preference to split the requirement across two hotels over seven nights. Hotels needed to be near one another to work with the shuttle service that was arranged to pick up and drop off engineers to work sites. Shift patterns and special food requirements based on religious and dietary needs also had to be factored in.

Inntel’s solution

The Inntel Account Manager for Alstom met with the client to fully understand the brief and to ask key questions. She then instructed Inntel’s Supplier Partnerships Manager and handed over sourcing and negotiations to her.

Two suitable hotels were selected, both in close proximity to each other, with accountability given to London traffic levels. These hotels were visited by the Inntel team to check location to client site, the best routes for the bus shuttle, parking facilities and to ensure the hotel’s flexibility and ability to manage the variable shift patterns and dietary requirements.

Once Inntel were confident that the hotels selected met the requirements, rate negotiations took place.

“Inntel listened to my brief and then walked through every aspect of the requirement. This gave our project managers great support and assurance so they were able to focus on the project in hand.”
